Beginning Knee Exercises: Forward Lunges

Take a larger step forward while maintaining an upperward posture. Lower your waist toward the ground like the split squat. Placing more weight on the front foot and leg, step forward using more of your glute muscles for hip extension. Then step forward with the other leg and repeat the exercise.

At first, do not lower your waist all the way to the ground. Perform the exercise in a stable and controlled manner. With increased leg and hip strength you will be able to go lower and perform more repetitions.
